The University YMCA seeks a mission-driven professional to provide financial leadership for the NAWC grants portfolio,  more than $1M in extramural awards annually, drawn primarily from public sources. This position carries full responsibility for post-award compliance, financial management, sponsor reporting, and audit coordination for all grants and contracts supporting NAWC, including oversight of subrecipient monitoring.

The Grants Finance Manager works directly with NAWC's core leadership team, serves as a member of the University YMCA's finance team, and staffs the Board's Budget and Finance Committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, nonprofit management, or a related field  or equivalent professional experience
  • 3–5 years of grants management or closely related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in bookkeeping or accounting, including experience with financial reconciliation and reporting
  • Familiarity with federal and state public funding sources and associated regulatory and reporting requirements
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Fluency in English, written and oral

Preferred

  • Fluency in a language other than English, written and oral

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Grants & Contracts Management

  • Support pre-award proposal budget development in collaboration with program staff and leadership
  • Oversee post-award financial management for all extramural grants and contracts, including budget monitoring, expenditure review, and timely preparation of financial vouchers and reports
  • Develop, implement, and update grant accountability policies and procedures to ensure compliance with sponsor, federal, and state requirements
  • Maintain registrations required for federal and state grant eligibility (SAM.gov, GATA, and similar)

Compliance, Monitoring & Audit

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external financial monitoring visits, audits, and cross-site evaluations
  • Monitor subrecipient compliance with federal regulations and subaward agreement terms through site visits, audits, and other oversight mechanisms
  • Track corrective action plans and stop-pay notifications; design and maintain internal control processes to address findings from financial, compliance, single-audit, and programmatic reviews

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Perform day-to-day and periodic accounting functions, including reviewing transactions for completeness, accuracy, fund availability, and conformity with policies and contractual agreements
  • Reconcile entries in QuickBooks Online; record transactions and prepare journal entries and credit memos as needed
  • Generate periodic financial reports for senior leadership and assist in preparation of the annual organizational budget
  • Exercise independent judgment in reviewing expenditures for budget adherence and regulatory compliance

Systems, Staffing & Administration

  • Develop and maintain systems to track grants and contracts, including payment receipt and timesheet verification
  • Process time and leave for NAWC staff and ensure accurate allocation of effort across funding sources
  • Advise staff, contractors, and subawardees on purchasing policies; serve as primary resource for procurement questions
  • Support staff hiring processes to ensure alignment with budgeted positions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, Egrams and Amplifund preferred
