Willard Broom

Willard Broom graduated from the U of I in 1971. He married another Illinois graduate, Anne, and started a lengthy career at the University shortly thereafter. He worked in Student Affairs and the various forms of office known as Student Programs and Services, Student Activities, and the Office of the Dean of Students, retiring almost 35 years later as Associate Dean of Students. He was involved in most phases of student life—orientation, activities, leadership programming, student groups, etc. etc. He was also active in the community and his professional organizations. During many of these years, he was in touch with the Y and was an active member of the now defunct “Know Your University” program committee. He later joined the Board of Governors and served as Interim Executive Director of the Y, bridging between Steve Shoemaker and Mike Doyle. After 50+ years in C-U, he recently moved to Boulder, CO.
